Have You Ever Wanted to be a Mermaid?
Jacket: TNA, Shirt: Gryphon, Skirt: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Boots: Rose Gold, Bag: Asos
I think every little girl has fantasies of becoming a mermaid. I've outgrown those dreams, but I would be lying if I said I didn't find beauty in things that remind me of mermaids. Many sequins and other shimmery things make their home in my closet and I pull them out every now and then when I feel like being shiny. Besides, who doesn't love a good sequin?
I'm wearing the same boots from my last post. I love these boots so much that I've considered buying them not only in different colors, but in the same color lest they ever fall apart. They're so comfortable, like slippers—except cooler, and it doesn't get much cooler than slippers. And I apologize for the bag. I'm the type of person who uses a bag over and over again until I get deathly sick of it. But if it's starting to get annoying, let me know and I'll switch it up. The skirt is awesome, with a delightful textured material, cool pleats and sassy zipper all the way down the back. The photos don't do it justice.

It's Starting to Feel Like Fall
Vest: Eryn Brinie, Sweater: Zara, Shorts: Wilfred at Aritzia, Boots: Rose Gold, Bag: ASOS, Necklace: Lia Sophia, Rings: F21, Banana Republic, misc.
After several glorious days of warmth and sunshine, San Francisco decided to give its residents a reminder not to get used to it by slapping us with a cold and foggy weekend. After lunch on the other side of the Golden Gate bridge, the boyfriend and I took a short detour into the hills next to the bridge's base. It was cold, ridiculously windy and so foggy you couldn't see anything in front of you.

Strolling Through an Indian Summer
Trench: Staring at Stars/UO, Shirt: J.Crew, Skirt: Zara, Shoes: Superga, Necklace: Noir and F21, Rings: Banana Republic, F21, Sunnies: H&M
This was a 'let's get dramatic' moment and BF told me to go behind the tree. It's not very dramatic.
I look serious in a lot of my photos, but really, half of them are like this. All those years of gymnastics for nothing.
It's ridiculously hot in San Francisco, thanks to our weird weather timeline. When the rest of the country starts feeling the first brisk notes of fall, we finally get our sunshine and warmth. Spent the afternoon going to open houses and then reenergized with coffee from my favorite neighborhood store, Philz. It's a local SF coffee house where the menu reads more like a wine list than a typical cafe. I normally stick to the dark and chocolatey Jacobs, but opted for a medium-roast Silken Splendor. Nummy nummy in my tummy.

Reach up and Touch the Sky
Jacket: Mike & Chris, Shirt: Stella McCartney, Skirt: Preen Line, Sandals: Bernardo
Spent the day running errands in this outfit. It looks better with heels, but I chose comfort over style. Hence, tiptoeing to pretend I'm not as short as I really am. I shot this on the roof of my building, it's so pretty up there with great views of the city.

This Is My Hood
Took an outfit shot with my new cut. It's essentially a variation of my old cut, easy to manage layers and sideswept bangs. Yes, I know I wore this sweater in my last outfit post, but it's been so easy to throw on for a breezy day. Plus, my cut was at 10am and it was all I could do to look somewhat presentable.

Time for a Trim
I've been in need of a haircut for a while now, but I'm quite honestly one of the worst when it comes to getting a trim regularly. I normally wait until my hair is unbearably flat and scraggly before I trek to the salon. But who knows why, because I love the actual process of cutting my hair!

For the past few cuts, I've been going to the Barber Lounge in SOMA. It's an awesome, light-filled industrial loft space with a cool, but not pretentious vibe. I am really picky about feeling like I fit in when I get services done, and I definitely feel right at home here.

They have a grouchy Frenchie that looks like my dog, but is smarter and knows how to open sliding doors.

Big open space and cool accents. They also feature pieces from local artists.

This is my cutie patootie stylist, Oscar.

Contrasting Textures
Sweater: Stella McCartney for GAP Kids, Top: Quail, Skirt: Vivienne Tam, Shoes: Loewe, Necklace: Stella & Dot, Bangles: Banana Republic & J.Crew
My friend Kristina, a Stella & Dot stylist, lent me this necklace and I fell in love with it. It's a chunky piece called the 'Femme Fatale' with silk thread wrapped through the links. Edgy, but completely wearable at the same time—love!
If you love it as much as I do, hit Kristina up here.

Neon Stripes and a Doggie Debut
Shirt Dress: ASOS, Booties: Tory Burch
Been busy, but took some time out to play dress up and attempt to shoot out an outfit with the tripod. Didn't turn out as awful as it has in the past, so here it is.
Also, meet my dog Senna! He's a fat, 2-year-old Frenchie who's named after the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. The pup was nosy and kept getting in the shot—clearly he wants to be a star!

Blue Skies Ahead
Over the weekend, boyfriend and I explored our old neighborhood of Potrero Hill found some quaint neighborhood gardens and a walkway painted blue to match my outfit.
Each neighbor had their own plot of land. Some filled them with vegetables, others with cheery flowers. A nearby bee hive kept the plants pollinated and likely provided more than one tasty treat for the neighborhood kids.
Topped off the afternoon with an indulgent double scoop of ice cream at Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous. Boyfriend's on the left is Crema Catalana while mine is a double scoop of Brandy/Caramel and White Sesame. Delish!

The Other Side
"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco" - Mark Twain
Cliche, but true. A day after the lovely sunny day spent at the farmer's market, the familia and I bundled up and ventured to the cloudy side of town. There are unmarked delineations on the city map that designate whether it's a sunny or foggy area. Locals, for example, know better than to wear shorts to the Sunset, but that they can leave the heavy jacket behind when they hit the mission. So, knowing it would be cold and gray on the west side, I made sure I was warm!
Army Jacket: TNA, Sweater: Crew Cuts by J.Crew, Shirt: H&M, Jeans: J Brand, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Necklace: F21
We had warm and filling shabu-shabu before checking out the tiled 16th Ave. stairs. The colorful landmark is a neighborhood effort to create a lovely mosaic running up the hill. Not only is it a unique attraction, but the steps are surrounded by beautiful local foliage with inspiring textures and colors.
Mmm, shabu-shabu with spicy miso broth. Shabuway has the best in the bay, but it's on the peninsula so Shabu House is our city alternative.
Am I looking down the stairs or up them? Only the buildings give it away. Trippy huh?

Fresh Neutrals
It was a bright and sunny Saturday, so the boyfriend and I took full advantage of the weather to bring his mom to the Ferry Building farmer's market. There, we gorged ourselves on some of my fave Mexican food by Primavera—they have THE best beer battered fish tacos in the city, and a killer snapper and shrimp ceviche—bought some delightful dahlias; picked up fresh heirloom tomatoes and lovely mozzarella.
We walked to the market from our condo, so I kept my shoes comfortable with plain white canvas sneakers. But I didn't want to spend the day in gym clothes, so I opted for a funky girly look with a cutout blousy top and mottled gray silk skirt (that I knew wouldn't blow up if the day decided to get windy). It was a neutral colored outfit, accented by the lovely colors of the farmer's market.
Top: Asos, Skirt: Catherine Malandrino, Sneakers: Superga, Necklace: designed and made by moi!, Bracelets: Lane Crawford, Banana Republic, J.Crew

Taking Advantage of a Sunny Day
Most people think of SF as a cold and foggy place. Which it can be, don't get me wrong. But if you know the city's micro-climates, sunny spots can be found quite easily. Today was gorgeous, so I spent as much time outside as I could. In between weekend errands, the BF and I hit up a park near the Ferry Building for lunch and a few outfit snaps.
But before all that, let's talk about how cute this chinchilla is. Petco has them and they're always my first stop. If I didn't already have a diva cat and snotty dog, I'd totally have a dust bathing chinchilla. Look at those ears, they give my dog's serious competition.
It was so nice out today that I didn't even need a jacket. Glorious and rare.
